A Scrappy Week!!

Another week and the 1st of August already....this year is going toooo fast...!!

Last Sunday arvo was our monthly meet of Simply Crafty. We had a Christmas in July party and of course did a lot of scrapping.... I always have a great time at the these afternoons... so relaxing catching up with friends and scrapping... I managed to get a layout done which is for the creative artz cottage monthly challenge...and finish my waterfall card from Shandell's class. I didn't get a pic of the card tho i gave it to my mum and forgot to get a pic...so will have to get that back off her. Here is the layout tho:

This arvo I got in and did some more scrapping on mum and dads' wedding album...It is getting closer to being finished....

Hoping to get some more scrapping done tommorrow :) yay!! I have my mojo back!!!

Scrapping....at last!!!

Hi all....Haven't been doing much scrapping of late.... first off i was sick for over a month..and I am a grumpy sick person....the flu and me just don't go together and no one wants to be around me...lol....so all i did really was sleep and watch tv..and try to get over it... feeling much better now....and in between all that life did go and on and time was just not spent on scrapping... plus i lost my mojo...

But all that has changed.... Last week I went to Creative Artz Cottage for Shandell's class... (check out her blog) I absolutely had a great time...the waterfall card is a great idea...and I will be using it again...I haven't finished mine yet...but this weekend is Simply Crafty...and I have photos to pick up so i can finish it....so i will blog them next week.... it was also just what i needed to get my mojo back!!! yay!!!

Today I spend the whole day just bumming around the house in and out of the scrap room... for my parents wedding album I wanted to do a title page that was a mock up of an invite to the wedding (as i don't have the real thing). So i did that today and I had fun and am happy with it...

Okay well i'm sure there will more next week after simply crafty...

The cakes that worked!!!! for Caths Baby Shower

Well.... the second attempt at the cakes... and the ones that really counted... worked!!! oh my god... We had Caths baby shower on Saturday afternoon...and she is really showing now...she looks gorgeous...all glowy and i couldn't help but have a touch of that pregnant belly.... gorgeous!! of course bub was asleep in there so I didn't get to feel any kicks... damn!

As you can guess the theme was rubby duckies... I think all the ladies had a great time... especially Cath... and she got some awesome gifts that will come in handy..... *big hugs for you Cath*

Cupcake Disaster!!! Master Chef I think NOT!!!

I decided to have a test run for a batch of cupcakes... For Caths baby shower I offered to make the cupcakes to go on the cupcake stand. But did I think I could live up to Shandell and her Mums standard...I thought I had a good chance. USUALLY....my cupcakes come out nice and taste great and look okay...

This is the end result... Look okay...I thought they looked OKAY! not great but okay!! and when you consider how much they stuffed up today (notice i said THEY not me) well..they look perfect...







Firstly....I filled the papers up with too much cake mix.... and well.... you can see what happened... hahahaha!! Brad called it the cupcake tear apart... but I was destined to save these cakes from looking crappy....








Then...I made the buttercream icing....(which tasted nice) but looked ghastly..... once again...Brad and I laughed and laughed...and called the color 'hospital green'. Was supposed to be blue... (don't ask!!)... Whilst taking the beaters out tho..i accidentally hit the button and icing flicked all over the kitchen....at this stage we were in hysterics...

Then....I rescued these pancake cupcakes with my scone cutter.... worked ok...they are now looking closer to cupcakes..... eeeehem!!

This is the excess.... I would have used it for a trifle...but come on.... that would have been disasterous too.... no way!!!

I made him taste the first one..... (i know I am mean).... and we couldn't stop laughing or being silly....

Surprisingly the cakes tasted really yummmy.....and looked kinda strange.... must have be okay between us we ate them all.... and I learnt two things... my new buttercream icing recipe is delicious.... and that perhaps i should beg Shandell and her mum to make the cakes...mine just don't cut it for a professional look...

What can I say....

Its been a fairly crappy week....and not a lot has happened...

Am still sick with the flu...feel worse than ever.... I took the week off work because it had gone to my chest and there has been a lot of coughing... so i have been sitting on the lounge sleeping and watching tv most of the week... Decided that while i was doing that I was able to cut out and stick together some invites for a good friend Cathie's baby shower.... Today we all met at Shandell's to put the finishing touches on them... and heres a piccie of one....the blue circle at the top pulls out the invite itself... I was quite happy with how they turned out...

Mum's been visiting again....so we decided to go and have our hair done Thursday morning... I had mine done completely different to i have had it done before.... I didn't have a lot cut off... but a few layers cut in and heaps of color...mostly brown, more blonde, and red... I love it... its different for me... then i came home and slept for 4 hours...lol

This weekend is a long weekend...and while a lot of people are heading off to Brisbane for the papercraft expo...I will be hopefully doing some scrapping.... I feel like i haven't scrapped for ages.... (other than the invites)...

Easy like a Sunday Morning

Hey guys... Busy here... haven't done any scrapbooking lately... but I will share some photos of what we have been up to.Last Sunday we missed Simply Crafty because we had been invited to a High Tea (proceeds going to charity) It was a great afternoon.... Shandell, Cath, Caths Mum Dianne, My mum, and Helen (from Lorna Blue) were at our table..and Shandells mum and her friends were at the table behind us.... It was a wonderful afternoon where we got dressed up and ate too many goodies...

After the high tea which was held at Fairymead House...we decided we would get some photos of mums and daughters... I wanted some done because mum and I hadn't had a good photo together for ages....usually one of us is all dressed up and the other in pjs lol. So it was nice to have a nice shot of mum and I together dressed nicely....

Last night was Brad's yearly Awards Night for work... Its always a formal affair...and last nights theme was 'the prom'. Even tho i am as sick as a dog with the flu... I had already paid for the limo (which a group of us went in), dinner, corsage and new accessories to go with last years dress (cos i hadn't worn it since). So i decided to go and have dinner...I was home in bed by 9:30pm. Brad didn't wander in until 4:30am this morning..and is still in bed!!! lol...he was so drunk I hope he has a really bad hangover...lol... Me I feel worse than yesterday.... blah!!! Stupid Flu!!

Loved my corsage...I had never had a corsage before...I opted for a wrist one...and I didn't want to take it off...lol...

Brad took these photos which is why they are a little wonky....i think he had..had toooooo many scotches by this time...

Shandell took a nice one of me....

Brad was being too silly to take photos of us together and i was too sick to be bothered with him last night......Shandell tried to get some of us...but it was useless and they turned out with him pulling stupid faces....luckily they had a professional photographer there....and as soon as we walked in the door I dragged Brad up there...and hopefully they will turn out okay.... she took 3 of us...One us close, one full length...and one of brads but...(clothed of course)

My blog turned the big ONE during the week...thanks for the good wishes...I always wish i could get around to blogging more... but hey once a week is a good catch up...

Well thats us for the week.... Mum is coming this week...and we are getting our hair done on Thursday and I am hoping we might get a pedicure done too...I have never had one before...so might be nice.. and on Friday Cath and I are going to Shandells to organise the baby shower invitations.... yay!!!

Police, Cats, Break Ins..I shouldv'e stayed in bed!!

For a Saturday morning i have been up since 6am which is quite ridiculous... so i was sitting at the computer with a coffee and playing scrabble at 8am...and the police turn up.... I start shaking (first thing i think of is 'who has died') walk to the door and ask them 'has anyone died??' they smile and say no there was a break in.... Turns out that the nice old lady in unit 2 had a window smashed and her front door jimmied and broken... thankfully they didn't get in... Spoke to the police for a while about the ferals up the road... Pete in number 1 (our watchout) gave them the lowdown of some ferrals who were around last night looking for JOE???? the CSI lady came and fingerprinted...and I was in awe of that....

Then I decided to come home and finish my cold coffee...so i gave Nancy a hug and walked in my front door... and what the hell...a kitten had come into my place via the backdoor... (which was open) and was sitting over my fishtank with his paw dangling inside.... I yelled at him went he went crazy and then refused to be chased out of either the front or back door...i corner him in the scrap room and pick him up and put him outside....meanwhile...my own cat was just sitting there watching me...!!!! lol... CRAZY MORNING!!! at least the policeman was HOT!!! he was nice!!!

ONTO SCRAPPING..... I decided to take the 5 pearls i had across the top of the photo (right hand corner) and put another button because i found one...yay!! was looking everywhere for that the other day....

This one I absolutely loved making.... I bought the papers at the "Sew Whats Crafty Expo" which was awesome fun!! although I spent too much.... The journalling reads 'someting old, something new, something borrowed, something blue....'

And another one... Mum with her parents.... I hate how kindy glitz comes out in photos tho... its all weird...

Okay well....I am hoping to get some scrapping done today.... Tommorrow mum is coming to visit and we are going to a 'high tea'...should be fun!!! Have a great weekend everybody!
